In the title story, Rumpole defends a pro-euthanasia doctor against a charge of murdering his old colleague, Chippy. The truth also comes to light in ‘Rumpole and The Little Boy Lost’ when Rumpole defends the hated ‘babysnatcher’ and his friend Claudes’s reputation. A trip to Europe takes Rumpole to the Courts of Justice to complain about a notoriously prejudiced judge giving a horribly fair trial , while ‘Rumpole and the Model Prisoner’ concerns and act of treachery during a prison performance of A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
