The Logans were a delightful family, everyone agreed. Archie , a village doctor who truly cherished the people in his care, Liza a wonderful homemaker and mother, teaching French at a local prep school, the children attractive and well mannered but then Archie’s father, the brilliant Sir Andrew, brought witty, desirable Marina de Breton to lunch. Marina commanded instant adoration from everyone but Archie, who bitterly resented his father being so obviously in love with her, and the comfortable façade of the Logan’s life was ripped apart, leaving Liza and Archie adrift in a strange and alien relationship.
Superb storytelling yet again from Joanna Trollope, set amidst the village world she brings so evocatively to life.
